The Hyperthermia Cancer Institute

The Hyperthermia Cancer Institute (HCI) delivers FDA-approved non-invasive hyperthermia therapy to those undergoing cancer treatment. HCI is based in Santa Monica, Los Angeles, and receives patients from all over the country.

Hyperthermia Uses Heat To Weaken And Destroy Tumors

Hyperthermia utilizes ultrasonic heat to compromise the cellular integrity and DNA structure of cancer cells. The heat also increases blood flow and oxygenation, which enables higher concentrations of chemotherapy and radiation to penetrate cancerous cells more thoroughly than otherwise possible.

Hyperthermia also stimulates the patient’s immune system to recognize and fight cancer cells, creating a third way of eradicating tumors. With hyperthermia, radiation therapy and chemotherapy have a statistically higher chance of a complete response.

Proven Effective Across A Wide Range Of Cancers

Hyperthermia therapy is FDA-approved to treat all solid tumors, most often in combination with chemotherapy or radiation therapy. We have treated most major cancers and tumor types; if your patient’s type of cancer is not listed or their cancer is advanced, we may still be able to help.

A Fixture In The Field Of Thermal Oncology

HCI’s medical director, Joseph J. Pizone, MD, MBA has practiced, taught, and been involved in endocrinology and tumor biology research for over 20 years. Dr. Pinzone graduated from the New York University School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.
Dr. Pinzone graduated from the New York University School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.

He then secured a fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University, where he achieved a National Research Service Award from the NIH to study pituitary tumors.

In addition to his work at HCI, Dr. Pinzone is also the Director of Endocrinology at Oceanview Medical Specialists, Inc.

Building Partnerships For Optimal Patient Care

Dr. Pinzone values collaborating with his patients’ oncology teams to determine the most effective treatment plan for each patient. Hyperthermia therapy can be useful whether the patient is undergoing chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or pursuing a surgical intervention. In select cases, hyperthermia therapy can be used as a stand-alone treatment. Dr. Pinzone and his staff at HCI work closely with a patient’s oncology team to coordinate therapy sessions and monitor patient progress. Our team is friendly and professional, and committed to creating stress-free care for the patient.

Early Adoption Is Recommended

When introduced early on in cancer treatment, hyperthermia’s ability to enhance the effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy increases; this makes the chances of complete tumor eradication higher. For this reason, HCI urges both doctors and patients to contact us as soon as possible to ensure the best possible outcome.

We at HCI share your goal of beating cancer. We are happy to answer any questions you may have about optimizing care for your patient. Please contact our offices today to connect with Dr. Pinzone.
